This quilt celebrates the successful effort to restore Apache Trout to their native habitat in the White Mountains of Northern Arizona. Once near extinction, they are now thriving throughout much of their historic range. The Apache Trout was one of the first species to be "down-listed" from Endangered to Threatened. The totems in the corners were chosen for the healing powers that they are thought to represent. The snake represents fertility and life force, the frog is emotional healing and cleansing, the scorpion is defense and self-protection, and the lizard is caution and regeneration. The techniques used are all done by machine - piecing, quilting, and applique. Although this is a bed size quilt, it has a sleeve on the back that can be used to hang it on a wall if you are fortunate enough to have a wall that big!
